Colleen E Thurston - Chairman and Trustee
Colleen brings many years experience as a successful fundraiser with many of New Zealand's leading charities including the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. She has been a member of Women's Golf New Zealand as the sponsorship adviser to the board. She has organized numerous successful charitable events and has an extensive network of business, political and social contacts throughout New Zealand.
Jeremy Goodwin LLB - Legal Adviser & Trustee
Jeremy has practiced law for the past twenty-five years, and specializes in Trust law. Previously Managing Partner of a large Auckland law firm and partner in a national law firm from November 1984, he is now one of the principals of Carter Atmore Law which specializes in Commercial Property and Trust law. As a Trustee of a number of private Charitable Trusts over the last fifteen years, Jeremy understands the legal issues which can arise in the charitable sector.
Craig Polley - Trustee
Craig is Managing Director of a group of companies and has more than 25 years experience in the advertising, design print and signage industries. In that time his commercial experience has included being involved in a number of new business start ups.
Dr. Graeme F Washer MB, CHB, FRACS - Trustee
Dr Graeme Washer has extensive international medical experience, with placements over the past 25 years at the University of Alberta, Canada, the University of Colorado, United States, including a posting as Senior Fellow in General and Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy at the University of Oxford, Gloucestershire Royal Infirmary, Gloucester, England.
Dr Washer currently practices in General and Colorectal Surgery at Auckland's Ascot and Integrated Hospital, he also maintains a part-time General Practice in Auckland.
Steve Grbic - Trustee
Steve is a specialist media mentor with thirty years experience in communications and the news media in South Africa and New Zealand.
As a journalist he worked for many of South Africa's leading newspapers including the Rand Daily Mail, the Sunday Express and the Financial Mail. He was editor of Inside South Africa, a magazine aimed at helping bring about change, by encouraging business to engage in the fields of education, community health and black empowerment.
For almost twenty years he has provided public relations counsel to leading multi-national corporations in the banking, civil engineering, dairy, energy, mining, manufacturing, professional services and road transportation industries.
Deidre Ross - Trustee
Deidre is the Managing Director of Mailshop, a Clemenger Group company and has been with the company since 2000. Mailshop is a specialist in Direct Marketing and Fulfillment services, with fifteen years of direct marketing and industry experience.
Deidre’s significant knowledge base, collaborative approach and extensive contacts within the industry have resulted in her involvement in numerous industry forums, including the Fuji Xerox Premium Partners programme and as a judge in the RSVP Marketing Association Awards.
Deidre's personal commitment to support the Trust came from her brother's early death (aged 47) which could have been easily prevented by a simple health check.
Phil Clemas - Trustee
Phil has been involved in media sales and management for over 23 years. He was one of the founders of Deltarg (Managing Director from 1994-2006), a successful direct marketing services company that three years ago merged with NZ Post-owned Letterbox Channel to become Reach Media. Phil has for several years had an interest in workplace health and wellness and was the first in New Zealand to introduce the 10,000 steps programme to a work-team.
His interest in this area peaked in 2006 when he opened a new boutique fitness club in 2006 to help people realise more of their potential through exercise. Phil returned to the corporate world in 2008 as General Manager of APN Outdoor, New Zealand’s leading Billboard media company. He is actively involved in the NZ Marketing Association as Deputy Chair of the Northern Regional Committee and is Chairman of the Outdoor Media Association of NZ (OMANZ).
Phil is happily married with three young children and works hard to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Paul Kane - Trustee
Paul is a partner at international accounting firm Grant Thornton in its Privately Held Business (“PHB”) division. He has a commercial background having spent many years as a Chief Financial Officer in a diverse range of companies from venture capital, import distribution, telecommunications to a private hospital.
Paul enjoys time with his family, fitting in as much sporting activity as time allows, including cycling, rugby, and swimming as well as assisting with his children’s sports.
